Airport vendor requirements in Texas
What vendors need to work at 6 Texas airports, summarized from each airport's published documents.
-
KADS Addison AirportAddison, TX. ADS
Partly published
At Addison only people authorized through a lease, agreement or permit may access the airport, and anyone offering aeronautical services must meet the Town's Minimum Standards before starting work. A vendor that subleases from or works through an airport tenant falls under that tenant, which is responsible for compliance, but every driver or gate user must first complete the Ground Vehicle Driving Program. Specialized repair providers carry $1M general liability, $1M hangarkeepers and $1M airside auto, naming the Town of Addison as additional insured.
-
KAUS Austin-Bergstrom International AirportAustin, TX. AUS
Partly published
At Austin-Bergstrom the Director of Aviation authorizes all business on the airport, and operators need a written lease or a "Commercial Operating Permit" from the City before starting. Independent repair technicians need their own permit, and a business subleasing from an FBO needs written Director approval plus its own permit. Repair and maintenance providers carry $10M general liability and $5M auto for AOA vehicles, with City of Austin as additional insured.
-
KDAL Dallas Love FieldDallas, TX. DAL
Mostly set by agreement
Any business activity at Love Field needs a written contract, permit, license or other authorization from the Director of Aviation, and vendors must show the Department of Aviation that the required insurance limits are in place. The limits themselves are not published in the rules. Anyone needing unescorted access to the AOA or SIDA wears a DAL airport-issued badge, obtained through the Airport Badging Office.
-
KFTW Fort Worth Meacham International AirportFort Worth, TX. FTW
Partly published
Meacham falls under the City of Fort Worth Aviation Minimum Standards, which cover Meacham, Spinks and Alliance. Cleaning, washing, waxing and painting fall under "Limited Aircraft Services and Support" in Section 12, Other Commercial Aeronautical Activities (SASO), and the insurance exhibit has a separate row for a "Temporary Specialized Aviation Service Operator" that names both the City and the airport lessee as additional insured. Expect to show $1M general liability, with the City of Fort Worth as additional insured and a waiver of subrogation, before you work. Gate access cards are $20 new, and anyone going onto the airfield without an escort needs non-movement area training.
-
KSAT San Antonio International AirportSan Antonio, TX. SAT
Mostly set by agreement
San Antonio does not publish vendor minimum standards or a mobile service permit online that we could find; airport rules sit in City Code Chapter 3 and your FBO or tenant is the practical sponsor. Badges need a CHRC and TSA Security Threat Assessment, about 2 hours of SIDA training, and an appointment booked by your company's Authorized Signatory. A new badge is $100, and driving outside a tenant leasehold needs an Airfield Driver's License and company markings in 6-inch letters.
-
KHOU William P. Hobby AirportHouston, TX. HOU
Mostly set by agreement
Houston Airports does not publish a vendor permit or minimum standards document for Hobby that we could find, so in practice you work through the FBO or tenant that hires you. Anyone who enters a controlled or restricted area to provide work or services must apply for a Houston Airports ID badge before starting, with fingerprinting, a criminal history check and required courses. Car services picking up at the airport need a Houston Airports vehicle permit from the Ground Transportation permitting office.
